Our Scenic Cruises

Shoalhaven River Cruise recognizes that we operate on the lands, waters, and skies of many First Nations Peoples. We affirm our commitment to advocate for Country while honoring First Nations Peoples and their rich knowledge. 


Experience the beauty and tranquility of the Shoalhaven River through our scenic boat cruises. Each Nowra River Cruise, lasting around 2 hours, departs from the Nowra Public Wharf in NSW, offering a unique perspective on the stunning landscapes. 


We provide a variety of cruise schedule options, including regular morning, lunch, and twilight cruises. Morning cruises set off at 11am, while twilight cruises depart at 4pm, generally 90 minutes before sunset. 


Upriver cruises highlight the impressive cliffs, picturesque landscapes, and some of Nowra's premium visitor attractions. Our popular downstream 'Fish & Chips' lunch cruises operate fortnightly, departing from Greenwell Point. These cruises reveal tranquil islands, serene mangroves, and peaceful villages and farmland, making them perfect for any Shoalhaven River events. 


Did you know? The indigenous name of the Shoalhaven River is "Wari" or "Bangalee" and the Crookhaven River is "Jerrinja".

About our business

Shoalhaven River Cruise is a small family-owned business, built on local expertise and dedicated to offering scenic boat cruises along the Nowra River. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our cruise schedule faced interruptions, providing an unexpected opportunity for the new owners to renovate the vessel, Shoalhaven Explorer, along with the installation of brand new engines and equipment. We are eager to continue the proud traditions of Shoalhaven River Cruise and share the wonderful offerings of our local community, including various Shoalhaven River events.

    The maximum number of people the Shoalhaven Explorer can accommodate in comfort is 48 passengers and 6 crew members.  The vessel is however surveyed to carry up to 60 passengers. We generally close bookings when we have 35 confirmed bookings.

    We love to talk to potential customers! Please call 0429 981 007 to discuss your ideas. Leave a message in case we don't answer immediately, we might be busy with a cruise.

    No. Unfortunately you may not bring your pet or service animal on board.

    Unfortunately not on our regular cruises. Every passenger we accommodate has different needs and fears. We also do not carry animal lifejackets on board. From time to time we do schedule animal-friendly cruises, please contact us to arrange your seat.

    Passengers who inform us of any special dietary requirements will be well looked after. We will endeavour to make your cruise a very enjoyable event!

    It is required that the Master of the vessel is aware of all the passenger numbers, regardless of their ages. Babies and infants travel for free but a place must still be reserved for them.

    If it is safe and possible to do so, we generally retrieve items that go overboard to prevent littering. However, we do not take responsibility for personal items that fall over the side and is lost.

    From time-to-time we have to either postpone or cancel a cruise. In the unlikely event that this happens, we contact the passengers to let them know. Refer to our Terms and Conditions for further details.

    Yes, we offer both half-day and full-day charters. Contact us for more information on pricing and availability.

    We are a local family who owns and operates the business, with the help of local experts.

    This is non-smoking vessel. Sorry, no vapes either.

    Unfortunately the Shoalhaven Explorer was not designed to accommodate wheelchairs. We can recommend other regional cruise operators who do. Passengers with "walkers" have no trouble boarding the vessel. Please contact us to discuss any other mobility issues, so we can assist you where possible!

    Our river is generally very flat and calm. If you forget to take your own seasick medication, our staff will offer some over-the-counter options.

    For the safety of yourself and others, flat footwear is recommended.
